What novel/ self-improvement book would you recommend?
I'm a college student who is going through personal struggles. Most people don't give me a chance voice my opinions nor do they listen. I'm so concerned about being judged and trying to always please others that I don't know how to be myself anymore. I'm trying to be more confident and assertive. I need a book to read for the break that will help me understand that I can get past this and that I don't have to have guilt & anxiety for fear of what people may think about me.

Anyone know of any good self improvement books?
I just got out of a bad relationship and want to work on building my self esteem back up. I thought maybe a self help book would help. My story is below: My EX and I met in 2006 and at the time he was in a relationship that was pretty much going through a lot of bad. We were just friends for about 3 months and then feelings started getting involved and one thing led to another. We started seeing each other on a different level despite of his gf AND I know I was wrong or we know we were wrong. I believed all the lies he said about their relationship; so stupid of me :-(. Now after 2 years he left her and came with me; which didn?t last long because he just jumped from one relationship to another. He cheated on me with her so I left him. After months of him apologizing and saying he realized what a HUGE mistake he made, we agreed to try again; this was in August of 2008. We lived together for 2 years and it was always an issue of him lying about different girls; these were old friends but still, why lie?. Anyway after 2 years and so many incidents I didn?t trust and decided to go in his phone. Well I found some pictures and emails from him and a girl from face book that I felt like he was talking to. I asked him many times was he and of course he denied it. I left his a$$ after 4 months of just trying to get over it and forget it; I just couldn?t do it. It wasn?t like he was telling me the truth anyway. In those 4months he only made things worse. He was accusing me of cheating, going through my email and not to mention got angry at my 10 yr old son for hitting his daughter (who hit him first) and cussed him. We made a payment arrangement before I left for him to pay me the money he owes me in 3 weeks. I now have all my money but he just won't quit. He just keeps saying, "I'm sorry, I can be better, we can work....." I need to work on me now. I don?t want to be the person that tolerated his cheating and mental abuse. The relationship was so stressful. I don?t want to be bitter and hateful. I just want to be different and have enough respect for myself that I?ll never let anyone take me through that kind of hell again. I am in counseling but I feel it?s not enough.

How can i make myself LIKE myself?
I am 26 yrs old... I wanted to get a nose job but am afraid of telling to my family and my close frens... Sometimes i think Plastic Surgery is the only way for me... I have tried almost every single way to make myself believe that i am confident. I read self improvement books, talked to myself in front of a mirror and list out my positive points. But it's just that when i came face to face with people that drains away my confidence. I am afraid of looking at them face to face. All becuz of my overly upturned nose. I have been mocked at several times. I am really sad... I wanna go for a plastic surgery. But i have my family and frens to worry about! I have tried to find my closest frens about this issue but he has too much of his own things to handle. I dun wan to Make him worry about my thing. I am afraid of failing the surgery too. I dun wan to worry about this for my whole life. I wan to change! I wanna be CONFIDENT!! Either physically or mentally or both. But i really dunno what to do anymore. Can someone please tell me what to do? *Pardon my english*
