You don't look ugly

I look ugly in pictures
Your self image is the image you have for yourself in your mind. Some people have self image problems because they believe that they are less beautiful than they really are and they may even believe that they are ugly while they are not.

Poor self image results in anxiety around people especially pretty ones, bad moods whenever something remind the person of his looks, low self esteem and depression.

Are you really ugly?
No you are not!! Your poor self image was formed as a result of seeing hundreds of pictures of yourself that look bad. Since any belief is formed by continues repetition the repeated exposure to ugly images has resulted in letting you believe that you are ugly. Do you know that people don't appear with their looks in pictures?

The camera takes a 2D pictures and omits lots of the real 3D features of your face. This results in a totally different person appearing in the photo than the real you. The question you should ask yourself is, how do I look like in mirrors? If you do look good in mirrors then you are really pretty when people see you in the 3D form (which is how people view you with both of their eyes) but when your face is printed on paper and you appear in 2D form you become ugly. That's it.

Self image issues
The problem with self image issues is that you will live your life thinking that you look ugly while you are not. Whenever you meet someone you will recall your imaginary ugly image then lose your self confidence.

Having a poor self image is not a small problem, its something that can ruin your life and even lead to suicide if you didn't deal with it. You must understand that you are really not ugly and that its all about the picture stored in your mind.

Why do hot guys date the ugly, slutty, and mean girls?
First of all, I admit I am jealous. Not to sound conceited but I always get told I'm a beautiful girl. People tell my dad that he's going to "have his hands full because all the boys will be throwing themselves at me." despite this, I have very bad self image problems and will be seeing a therapist in a month because of it. I always notice that good looking guys, have ugly, slutty, and mean girlfriends. why don't they go for pretty and nice girls? Do they go for the ugly and mean ones because they are easy and just want sex?

Do you think that repressing nudity causes perversion?
I've been thinking lately that maybe the reason for most rape incidents, sexual deviance, most homosexuality (I do not believe however that same sex relationships are wrong exactly), and pretty much any kind of perversion towards the human body is a result of repressed attitudes towards nudity. It really makes sense when you think about it because if we as a society were more comfortable with our bodies we would not be obsessed with pornography and other related materials. Especially in this country (USA) we are probably the most repressed when it comes to nudity, but yet many advertisements are aimed at selling sex or using provocative imagery to get people excited about the product being sold (mainly I'm talking about mainstream pop music, fashion, etc). I also believe that viewing the naked human body as a taboo conditions us to link nudity and sex too closely together which goes back to my point that if we treated nudity as a more common thing, there would be less rape, sexual deviance, and etc. I can back up my point by referencing all those cases with all those catholic priests who molested their altar boys (because catholicism and christianity in general are very repressive when it comes to sexual desire and nudity). Whereas, in places and cultures where nudity is accepted, such as nude beaches, there is more of a relaxed atmosphere and minimal cases of sexual assault. I was just wondering, does anyone else feel the same on this issue? This question also came to my mind because I myself have struggled with sexual identity issues and my self esteem. For many years I have been bicurious and I also have had self image problems where I was not happy with my body or I thought I was hideous. Looking back in my life though, I have never been comfortable with my own body or been comfortable around the nudity of others. I think most of it is due to being raised in an environment where casual nudity and sexual expression was heavily repressed. So really another question I have on top of all this is: Do you think that if our society exposed ourselves to more casual nudity in a nonsexual way would it result in more acceptance of body image and result in a decline of sexual deviance and perversion?

John Walsh: Self-improvement is on the rise. At last, a true return to Victorian values

I've been pondering the legacy of Samuel Smiles, the Victorian social reformer born 200 years ago in 1812.
