Self Esteem Depression
How Can You Tell If Someone Has Low Self Esteem?
How can you tell if someone has low self esteem? Are there some tell-tale signs you can easily recognize? Actually, there are. People with low self-esteem, or lacking in self confidence, will usually exhibit certain verbal and non-verbal behaviour which points to their insecurity-clues you can learn to recognize and use to try to help your friend or loved one.
How Can You Tell if Someone Has Low Self-Esteem: The Signs
Some of the signs of low self-esteem are relatively easy to spot while others may be a bit more obscure. However, the following signs are usually a fairly good indication:
- Poor body language. People who are always slouching or walking with their head down may be trying to tell you something. The inability or refusal to walk uprightly or sit up straight may be an indication of low self esteem.
- Negativity. People who always see the negative in every situation may be suffering from low self-esteem. Hopeless language, such as "I can't" or "it figures" are usually pretty good signs of this lack of confidence.
- No eye contact. Confident people have no problem looking people in the eye when they are speaking, but the opposite is usually the norm for those with low self-esteem. The inability to look people in the eye may be a sign that the person feels inferior or unworthy.
- Defensiveness. People who are defensive, touchy or who always take even light-hearted conversations to heart may be exhibiting a complete lack of confidence. If they are always trying to defend themselves, even when the situation does not call for it, that is typically a sign of low self-esteem.
- Depression. Depression is more than just feeling low or down; it is the loss of enjoyment in things that should normally be enjoyed. Experts believe that extended bouts of pervasive depression can be a precursor to low self esteem.
So how can you tell if someone has low self-esteem? The tell-tale signs mentioned above are usually a good starting point for helping your friend or loved one. Look for both verbal and nonverbal clues of apathy, frustration, depression and defensiveness, and offer your full support. Just knowing that someone cares can be a huge help.

What is wrong with me? Result of Psychology? Broken Relationship? Lower self esteem? Depression? Please help!?
I don't love my life now. I don't love myself and i feel bad all the time. The reason for this, i believe is how this goes:
I've always been a very good student both at school and at college. There was a very good friend of mine, who made me feel very special and i felt very happy with him. Don't freak out please, i have feelings for the same sex, so i consider myself gay, though till day i haven't got any experiences except the one i am sharing with you.
After a few months i realized that i had started developing feeling for him. I used to go to his place and slowly developed the habit of stroking his c**k sometimes when he was sleeping. This happened 3-4 times, over a period of, say, 5 months.
Though he never reacted, i am sure he knew what was happening. Sometimes when i had been going on for hours, stroking him, he would just toss, take a turn and sometimes ask me to go to sleep. He never took it seriously. I however started to get too fond of him. He became an indispensable person. I wanted him everywhere - during my study hours, in college sitting next to him , at night and while hanging out with him along with other friends. I started calling his phone many times. When i would say he didn't call me, he made sure to call me the next time.
My mind started to become occupied with thoughts of him. I started considering him as a god figure. I just loved this guy, who was my best friend.
When i see it back from now, i feel that slowly i had started demanding too much. Although we never talked about this, but when i wanted more, i gave him a hint that i had feelings for him.
After that, our friendship started to dissolve. We started having fights over phone, in which i was always used to demand and said bad things to him- that he doesn't care. His only reaction would be an "ok". When i complained that he didn't call when he had promised, he would just say "Oh! Yeah, I forgot"! He started ignoring me whenever he could, but still pretended to include me in some of the group hangouts we all had. This made me feel very bad.
I tried to ignore him too, not to call him. Just be "friends". But after a few days the try would become futile and i ended up calling him again. This happened 5-6 times during the last 4-5 months of our college. He refused to talk to me a few days before the college ended.
It has been nearly 9 months since the day he refused to talk to me on my face. The problem is that i still love him, want to be with him and have him with me all the time but its not possible to forget him because i had tried earlier many times but it didn't work. Also, talking and have an on going friendship also doesn't work. I have this feeling of guilt and a feel-bad factor with me all the time due to which i am not able to concentrate on my job. What should i do? Please help me..

I'm very smart, but I'm not a good student, and now I feel depressed and stupid.?
I'm very intelligent. I love linguistics, reading, writing, psychology. I got 74s on the english portions of the PEAT and 62 on the math. I take all college courses. But I've never been a good student in high school. I'm a junior now, and my grades normally are either Cs or Bs, with some As. I have trouble following orders and just want to do my own thing - I forget to do assignments, I lose my homework, procrastinate, etc. I'm excellent at english (I'm an amazing writer), linguistics, social sciences, and math, and I would love to have a career in linguistics and I want to go to a good university. Getting bad grades has given me low self esteem, depression, and I feeling stupid. I've always prided myself on my intelligence, and I feel useless now.
My question is, what options are open to me? Can I still go to a good university? Are there any that don't value grades so much? My GPAs are probably roughly-
Freshman year: 2
Sophomore year: 2.5
Junior year: 3

I think I have adhd what should I do?
I am 15, I am failing 3 classes and I think I have adhd. I looked up the symptoms for adhd and they describe me perfectly, I mean perfectly. I can never sit still, I can't pay attention in class, I sometimes zone into the randomest things, I am extremely impulsive, my locker is a pile of garbage about 4 feet high, I am made fun of because of how bad my memory is (just little jokes), I don't have stable emotions (I have had self-esteem, depression and self-motivation issues and still do), and I am always bored. What should I do. don't have a family doctor and I can't tell my parents because they'd just think I want drugs. That's not the reason I'm actually kind of scared
