Can You Use the Law of Attraction to Change a Negative Self-Image?

You probably already know this, but if you are going to successfully transform your life through the Law of Attraction, the first thing you will have to do is believe that you deserve what you want.

Unfortunately, most people suffer from a very low self-image. This, in turn, causes them to lack confidence and any belief on their part that they deserve the good things in life.

The problem then becomes a kind of a Catch-22. You want things to change in your life for the better, but you find you are unable to take the steps necessary to successfully use the Law of Attraction in this endeavor because you don't believe you really deserve anything better than what you have.

Now, the Law of Attraction follows your thoughts, which will automatically follow your beliefs until you take conscious control of those thoughts, and learn through practice to redirect them to concentrating on what you want.

So the first thing you have to work on is a new self-image.

Take a lined piece of paper and write down, quickly and without too much analysis, at least ten things that you think are facts about yourself.

Then write down ten things that you have been told about yourself by authority figures (like parents, teachers, etc.), and peers.

Don't just concentrate on negative things, but do be completely honest with this list. After all, you are the only one who is going to see it.

Now, for every negative thing, write down the opposite in the form of an affirmation. Make it a short, present tense statement.

For example, if others have told you that you are a slow learner, write down something like, "I learn things quickly and I grasp concepts easily."

If you think you have a poor memory, try an affirmation like, "I easily retain and instantly access any information that I need."

If you think, for any reason whatsoever, that you do not deserve the good things that life has to offer, change it with an affirmation like, "I am worthy and deserving of the best life has to offer."

Some people can work with as many as ten affirmations at a time; I personally have found it easier to choose just three and work with them until my beliefs shift.

However many you choose to work with let them become a kind of a mantra that you repeat as often as possible. One of the best times to do this is while taking a shower, because you can say them out loud and no one but you and your inner self will hear them.

At first you may feel as though you are lying to yourself. But please keep in mind the following: it's entirely possible that you have been living your life up until now based upon lies, intentional or otherwise.

So give yourself a chance by doing this.

You have nothing to lose, and after a few days the Law of Attraction will begin the necessary steps to align your new thinking with the infinite possibilities of the Universe, the good things you want will gravitate toward you because of your new, positive self-image.

cruel to tell my boyfriend truly believe he has ADD?
I wanted to ask you....I truly believe my boyfriend of 4 years has ADHD. Is it wrong for me to tell him I believe this and to push him to seek support? Or should I just change based on my belief? He probably would not want to know if he does have it b/c he has the typical macho man personality. I know a lot of ppl are probably wrong about their misdiagnosis, but I'm pretty positive I'm right. here's a little background on his behavior if you would like to continue reading: During the day, I'm noticing I'm saying a lot of critical things to him: you locked your keys in the car again? why can't you remember to close the cabinets when you're done? can you put the lid back on the rubbing alcohol when you're finished? stop leaving your shoes in the middle of the floor! why do you keep interrupting my brother when he's talking? you keep talking over people that rude! are you picking at your skin again? You left the milk out on the sink over night. why are you standing up eating? why are you standing while we're watching a movie? I already told you 3 times to put the clothes in the dryer and you still wont do it. Ive asked you several times to clean up your mess you made in the microwave and you wont do it. etc etc etc...the list could go on forever. His forgetfulness drives me crazy, and he does not remember to pick things up if he knocks it down, moves it, opens it etc...but he is a great artist, and he can pay so much attention to his video games. He will get so hyperconcentrated on his videogame, he will forget he's cooking or he will not pay attention to anything I try to tell him. He often runs in the kitchen and I'll hear him yelling about almost burning his food. He has a tendancy to over exaggerate about things he's accomplished in his life and I'm beginning to feel he does this because of negative self image. He often says he will never move back to his home state until he does not look like a failure to his mother who lives there. He often says that he feels like he should be further in life than what he is and I believe his self esteem is low, although he has striking good looks! He looses interest in things quickly and cannot complete any project he starts...like barbering school. he hates sitting in the classroom. I'll give him something to read and he will skip through the paper not understanding what the paper was truly about. His license is currently suspended for silly driving mistakes that could've been avoided. He constantly makes silly careless mistakes and I know he feels embarrassed about it...for instance....his battery in his car went dead b/c he left a light on in the car.....we tried to give his car a jump with my car, and he ended up making my battery die b/c he was not paying attention to where he was hooking up the "+" and "-"...he hooked it up wrong and we both ended up with dead batteries. He was embarrassed b/c another male came over and did it correctly. These sort of things happen often...he just simply messes up on random things and I've always gotten mad at him for it. but I'm beginning to feel sorry for him because Im noticing he's not being careless...he is making honest mistakes..then he beats up on himself later for his mistake. I could talk about this forever, but I'm not going to. I just want to ask you....should I tell him that I think he has ADHD? I know he will feel insulted...but I dont want to go on with this diagnosis in my mind without ever telling him....my family can also see something is wrong from his actions around them. it causes him to get into arguments and im always stuck in the middle. I hate to tell him to lay off of him b/c of his disability when he has never been diagnosed...please advise me on what to do. thank u

I've been pondering the legacy of Samuel Smiles, the Victorian social reformer born 200 years ago in 1812.
