How to Deal with Fear of Commitment in a Man - Advice for Women Who Want a Serious Relationship

Loving a man and wanting a future with him is something many women have experienced. It's wonderful to meet a man, develop a close emotional bond with him and then realize that he's the one you are destined to spend your life with. But what happens if the man you are involved with loves you but isn't ready to take the relationship beyond the initial stages of dating? If you're in love with a man like this you are probably experiencing a lot of conflicting feelings. Sadness, frustration and even anger can all combine to make you feel desperate. Knowing how to deal with fear of commitment can help you to not only understand why he feels the way he does, but also, what you can do to change it.

Learning how to deal with fear of commitment has to start with recognizing the fact that pushing a man like this isn't going to help at all. When most of us want something from our guy we see no problem in asking him repeatedly for it. Doing that on the subject of a more serious commitment will ultimately backfire in your face. He'll become more and more irritated with the constant badgering and it will make him pull farther away from you. Starting today you need to stop talking about marriage completely. Don't bring up the idea of anything more serious than what you two already share. This one step alone will make a world of difference in the dynamic of your relationship with him.

Often when a man says he fears commitment he means that he fears losing his freedom. Most men believe that once they settle into a serious relationship the time they used to have with their friends, or pursuing their hobbies or interests, will be taken from them. You need to show him, not tell him, that it's just not that way. Encourage him to spend time with his friends and also always support him in his career. It's also wise to show him that you're not giving up the things and people that are important to you either. Go out with your girlfriends as well and he'll see that your intention is to not monopolize his time. Once a man can relax and not worry about his woman pressuring him for a commitment, he'll be much more likely to want to give her one.

There are specific things that any woman can say and do that will make her men want to commit to her. If you believe that he is the man you are destined to be with there are things you can do right now that will make him feel exactly the same way about you. You don't have to wait for him to decide whether or not he's ready to commit to you. If you are tired of putting your dreams on hold because he's commitment phobic, there are things you can do to make him want to marry you now. Learn right now what you need to do to make him fall to his knees and beg you to marry him.

What do you say to someone who is terrified that she is pregnant?
I just got a call from a friend. (btw, is happily married, stable home etc) She was crying on the phone and said 'something big happened. and i just need a friend' she sounded absolutely terrified. i am thinking its a baby. previous conversations have led me to believe she is super scared about getting pregnant primarily because of the changes a womans body goes through, and the necessary weight gain. she is SUPER slim, but i don't think she sees herself the way others do.i know they want to have babies one day, but she said she'd lean closer to adoption simply to avoid the physical changes pregnancy brings. i'm so worried about her. i'm a good listener, and happy to have other peoples 'problems' told to me, but as for advice, i never say the right thing. i'm just hoping at this point she IS pregnant, and its not something truly bad. as a mother of 3, i can deal with fears of pregnancy - been there done that. but anything worse, and i'm good as useless.

Can you please paraphrase this for me? Thanks. Fear: the mere sight of the word makes some of us cringe. It is a feeling we have all dealt with at one time or another. It is something that we first experience as children, and are conditioned to respond to in many different ways. Some of us live in constant fear; of accidents, of bad people doing us harm, or of physical ailments. Others simply take things as they come in life, whether they are good or bad things. In the dictionary, fear is defined as: ?a feeling of agitation or anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger.? That is a rather ominous definition. Fear can also refer to general anxiety, as in ?fear of speaking in public? or ?fear of open areas?. These fears arise not necessarily from a present or imminent threat, but rather a perceived threat, which to some can be just as scary. For most people fear is an unpleasant feeling and it is important that we learn to deal with fear in the best manner possible.

How deal you deal with with fears and anxiety?
Naturally, I don't like messing up. I like being successful. However, it just isn't possible to always be successful. The problem is that I fear not being successful at something. So, I don't even try, and ensure failure. I had gotten control of this at one point. I took psych classes, and went clubbing. It helped a ton. I got rejected many times, and I lived. It made me confident. Sure I got rejected, but I also met a lot of people, got a lot of phone numbers and made friends and gfs. I got so confident, that at one point I didn't fear rejection. I didn't care. I went to job interviews and didn't care whether or not I got the job lol. I wore different sucks, and it worked. Without having ever worked as a car salesman, I told the interviewer "I'm Joe, I know I 'm young and I know that I haven't done this before. But, I know that I can do this. I know that I can sell cars, all I need is a chance." And I got hired. In the last 6 months, I sold 60 cars! Anyways, I reached this point where I had it all good. I went clubbing, had friends, a gf, a job, and school. At that point I thought, hey, I can't fail. I became scared of failure again... because I became used to success! Ironic. When I didn't care, and wasn't scared of failure I succeded. When I became scared of failure I failed. For instance, after selling 60 cars, I became scared that I might not be able to sell cars, so I quit my job. I stopped going clubbing. I was scared that I might fail my class even if I tried, so I stopped studying and failed. I was scared tht my gf might dump me, so I started acting weird around her, stopped talking to her and she dumped me. I sat in the back of class, and kept to myself. I didn't talk to anyone. Anyways, my fears of failure helped bring me to fail at everything I loved. I dealed with my fear of failure in one way before. I thought "Hey, I'm gonna die one day. It's gonna happen. If that's going to happen, than getting rejected won't matter. If the interviewer says I'm not good at something won't matter. If I get fired, so what??" (Btw, 2 months into the job I got fired. I found another job within 4 days, and worked ther for the next 4 months until I quit). Deal with fear in that way, by not worrying about it and doing my best had set me free. I achieved things that I had never dreamed before! And I think it's time for me to go back into being that guy. What do you think of my strategy?
