The Benefits of Corporate Coaching
Businesses and corporations today are confronted with a lot of challenges stemming from the current global economic climate. If they are going to survive and continue to thrive, they have to be flexible enough to change with the times and current market trends. And if these corporations are going to learn how to do this effectively, executives and management personnel need to be learners as well. Typically, when you are talking about "learning", it refers to changes in behavior.
Attitudes, beliefs, motivation, thoughts, and unconscious drives are examples of some of the behavioral aspects of the professional arena. Corporate change and learning ability uses corporate coaching as the platform to accomplish this. In order for a business or corporation to benefit from corporate coaching, it is just as imperative that leaders, managers, and supervisors become corporate coaching tools as well.
Coaching at the executive and management levels helps to communicate where the company is at as well as where it is headed. Customer service, profit, and productivity are the 3 key measurable elements of corporate performance. However, the smarter corporations realize that these "measurables" are not the cause. They are the outcome of the corporation's performance.
Coaching at the management and executive levels should never be confused as the alternative method of managerial control. Management today is no longer equates to controling employees. The responsibility now lies in creating a responsible culture through delegation of responsibility and empowering their employees to take action. In this way, coaching becomes synonymous with leadership and management.
In addition to this, management coaching is a distinct form of communication. It relates to, and acts by, virtue of the commitments made by human beings to accomplish more than what has previously been done. Coaching is not about learning techniques as much as it is about the perception of the world, relationships, and the corporation. Coaching is also about breakthroughs as it produces unprecedented results at all levels of the corporation when it is conducted effectively.
Corporations typically benefit 6 different ways when executives and managers are used as corporate coaches:
They become more competent and generate more effective relationships (as well as maintaining these relationships) at both the personal and professional level.
They become more effective as leaders and managers by adopting and understanding the principles of coaching and the empowerment of employees.
They begin to effectively develop team spirit and unity within the corporation, resulting in the achievement of unprecedented results and the creation of much more powerful working relationships.
They enable others around them to expand upon their capacity for positive actions and initiative, as well as expanding their own levels of responsibility.
They expand their own understanding of interpersonal and organizational dynamics and therefore empower themselves in the process.
They obtain a sharper sense of what their commitments are within the organization. In this way, they are able to:
a) achieve more measurable gains in the areas of organizational and personal effectiveness.
b) incorporate employees into different levels of responsibility.
c) reduce needless corporate spending and waste.

I like researching the latest technology, phones, computers; etc. What's a good career for someone into that?
I've always been told that I'd do good in a computer related field as opposed to what I do now and i'm considering how i could segway into something different. my question above sounds broad, but I'd to be one of those people that research and review the newest latest gadgets/computers or maybe one of those people that work with ergonomics (i've always noticed how poorly offices are lighted, furniture quality/arrangement of machines, and poor air quality for example), or improving office morale, productivity, or as part of a career/corporate coaching kind of job. What job and/or education could lead me down this kind of path.
i'm really appreciate of anyone's experience/advice who actually works in any of the above.
thanks for all your responses!

does anyone think there is a real demand now or in the future for life coaches/corporate coaches?
my skill set points in this direction...i've been a motivator, public speaker, personal trainer, fitness instructor, radio talk show host, writer, salesperson for the last 20 years. i've been seriously struggling with a direction for my life. i was accepted to several law schools over the years and never went (i guess something told me it was the wrong path) even though i thought i would enjoy the work. feedback please?
to: tony s..i wasn't trying to impress anyone with the fact that i was accepted to law school. i was simply adding some detail to the frustration i have experienced in not finding my niche. it's sad that you are such a negative person who feels the need to criticize others instead of seeing the real need from which the question was based. i am fully confident in my ability to construct a question. thank you very much.
